The Western Desert Oasis Tour
Intro
This expedition will take you through the various landscapes of the western desert. From lush green oasis with palms, olives and mango groves, to sand dunes, to hills, escarpments, to baren landscapes and Mars like terrain amongst the White Desert formations. The route traversses old camel caravan routes as well as WW2 British tracks, long chains of sand dunes and some road sections. Travelling from one Oasis to the next, visiting Baharia, Dakhla and Kharga Oases. Camping for 5 nights and lodging 6 nights. Travelling in well equiped and reliable Toyota Landcruisers, stacked with supplies, gear of all sorts and guided by friendly and expert guides throughout the entire trip.
Day 1: Cairo – Baharia Oasis
0800 Early start from Cairo, head out to Baharia Oasis, check into EcoLodge, have lunch and begin an tour of the Oasis, visiting the English Mountain, the Lakes of the Oasis, the dense Palm groves and check out the slow paced relaxed lifestyle of the Oasis. Day 2: Baharia Oasis – Agabat
After breakfast and checking out of your ecolodge, we begin the drive leaving Baharia Oasis behind us. Visiting the Black Desert with all its long dormant volcanic hills. After which we continue on our drive towards Agabat, with a scheduled lunch stop on route having left the road behind us, we will have a sandboarding stop aswell and then we reach Agabat where we will setup camp for the night. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Camping Overnight
Day 3: Agabat – Djara Cave – White Desert
After breakfast and breaking down camp, we continue our journey and head to the Djarra Cave, where we will also have our scheduled lunch stop. After which we begin our drive to the White Desert National Park where we will setup camp for the night. * Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner * Camping overnight.
Day 4: White Desert – Karaween Dunes
After breakfast and breaking down camp, we continue our journey through the White Desert, visiting El Santa (Roman times Acacia tree), Ein Khadra(Roman Well), then we drive through the small and big valleys heading to El Serw Well (Another Roman Well) for our scheduled lunch stop, after which we drive down the Karaween dunes where we will setup camp for the night. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Camping Overnight
Day 5: Karaween Dunes – Black Valley – Dakhla Dunes
Today is Sand dunes all the way. After breakfast and breaking down camp, we continue our journey on the Karaween and Dakhla dunes trotting some old camel routes, stopping by a few surprise sites along the route, one of which is a WW2 airstrip! We will have our scheduled lunch stop on top of the Dakhla dunes and continue on, till our campsite location among the Dakhla dunes. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Camping Overnight
Day 6: Dakhla Dunes – Kharafesh – Gozmond
After breakfast and breaking down camp, we continue our journey towards Dakhla Oasis, still on the Camel caravan route and the WW2 English track, traveling through the labyrinth of Kharafesh which promise never ending changing horizons. Our lunch stop in the Labyrinth will give a chance to those who like exploring on foot. We will be setting up camp later within the mountains of the labyrinth. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Camping Overnight
Day 7: Godmond Pass – Qasr El Dakhla – Tarfa Lodge
After breakfast and breaking down camp, we continue our journey towards Dakhla Oasis and descend down the Gozmond Pass which takes us down a 350-meter-high escarpment into El Qasr, part of Dakhla Oasis. We visit El Qasr Mud City and then head to our Eco-Lodge which is nestled between the lush greens of Dakhla’s countryside. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Accommodation in Eco-Lodge
Day 8: Dakhla relaxed day
After breakfast at your eco-lodge we head out to visit the Pharaonic Tombs of Ballat, after which we visit the Mud City of Ballat and return to our eco-lodge just intime for lunch and relaxed free 2nd half of the day. *Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner *Accommodation in Eco-Lodge
Day 9: Dakhla sites ( El Haggar Temple – Bir El Gabal Hot Well)
Breakfast at your eco-lodge and you have a relaxed morning to explore around the area or just stay by the pool and read a book. After Lunch at your eco-lodge we head out to visit El Haggar Temple and have a dip in the Hot Well of Bir El Gabal. Day 10: Dakhla – Kharga – Site (Bagawat Cemetry – Mostafa El Kashef Monastery)
After breakfast and checking out. We begin our drive to Kharga Oasis, and on route we will have small stop and visit the site of “Ancient Kellis”. Check into Lodge in Kharga Oasis and visit the “Bagawat Cemetry” and for those who wish, have a hike to Mostafa El Kashef Monastery. Day 11: Kharga Sites (Temple of Ghweita – Qasr Al Zayyan)
After Breakfast we begin the days tour by visiting the Temple of Ghweita and then drive south deeper into Kharga Oasis to visit the Temple of Dush where we will also have our lunch stop. After which we will visit the Nadura Temple and then return to our eco-lodge for our last night in the Western Deserts of Egypt. Day 12: Kharga – Cairo or Luxor
After breakfast and checking out. We begin our drive to Cairo/Luxor Both destinations are available. Lunch we will be served in lunchboxes and will have tea and coffee stops along the way.

This expedition is active from November to April and could be tailored for couples, groups of 4 and up to 20 persons. Minimum physical endurance required as to walk around the sites, temples, deserts hikes. The final destination on day 12 is to be confirmed when booking. Group splitting will not be possible, Cairo or Luxor will be the groups choice.
